May 2016 - AB QSS visited the Rosenberg Quilt Collection of the Clothing and Textile Collection at the University of Alberta and a bed turning with Lucie Heins - acting Curator of Western Canadian History at the Royal Alberta Musuem
The Alberta Quilt Study Society aims to promote an understanding, appreciation
and knowledge of quilt making and its heritage in Alberta and beyond.
The specific aims of the AB QSS are:
- To foster an interest in both historical and contemporary aspects of quilting through study and research.
- To provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas and the development of research skills through seminars and study days.
- To foster links with quilt study groups and related organizations in Canada and abroad.
The society brings together textile and quilt scholars, academics and anyone with an interest in both the history and recent developments of quilting.
